Democrats Complicity in Torture

Several days ago, a CIA-released document revealed that at least 19 Democrats were routinely briefed about the torture techniques used by the Bush administration and when they would be used since as early as 2002.
Bearing the ‘This-Can’t-Be True’ mindset, liberals immediately responded by digging up a letter that suggested that CIA cannot promise the accuracy of the documents. The key passage of the letter states:
“This information, however, is drawn from the past files of the CIA and represents MFRs completed at the time and notes that summarized the best recollections of those individuals. In the end, you and the Committee will have to determine whether this information is an accurate summary of what actually happened.”
Some liberals would cling dearly to this statement and refute all Democrats knowledge of torture used by the CIA, and completely dismiss the relevance of the documents.
This would classify as none other than “extreme narcissism and selective memory.”
It’s one thing to dispute the Democrat’s complicity in the torture program, but to reject their knowledge of it would take some conscious effort.
This is not the first time that key Democrats have been reportedly briefed about these ‘enhanced interrogation methods’. Back in 2007, the Washington Post reported that leading Congressional Democrats on the Senate and House Intelligence Committees have been briefed routinely about these methods including Jay Rockefeller, Nancy Pelosi, and Jane Harman since 2002.
Back then, these individuals maintained their silence on this matter and proceeded with their daily routine, despite outrage by the rational group of liberals. Sometimes, silence speaks the most volume.
Now a year has passed, and the outrage has been quelled. Since then, the morale of the Democratic Party has been elevated to heavenly levels as a result of the incredibly successful Obama-campaign as well as the contrasting disintegration of the Republican Party. Suddenly, it seems impossible that the Democrats can do anything bad. How quickly we forget.
These newly CIA-released documents are merely supplementary evidence to what was already reported in 2007. Oddly enough, whereas the original findings was met with pure indignation in 2007, liberals now react in disbelief as they try to dig up anything that would invalidate the relevance of the reasonable facts in front of them.
Perhaps, the letter states it cannot verify the accuracies of the details within documents in question. Yet, would any rational being believe the documents are pure fabrications that can be wholly discredited?’
The shock that some liberals display in light of the Democrats’ complicity (or at least compliance) to the “harsh interrogation techniques” is in itself shocking. Not only have there been reports and testimonies on this matter, the topic of torture in Abu Ghraib has been in fervent discussion as early as 2004. Are we to believe Congress has never taken the time to investigate and discover the acts inside the interrogation room?
If the latter is true, they may evade the accusation of complicity in torture, but would confess to a level of Congressional ineptitude beyond our wildest imagination.
